Pateshwar temple, popularly known as Dakshin Kashi temple, is located in
Degaon village, about 15 kilometers south-east of Satara city. The temple is situated
on a hill and one has to climb around 60 steps and hike for about 20 minutes thru
woods.
The temple, caves nearby showcases thousands of Shivlingas in defferent sizes from
as small as a marble to almost 8 feet tall. It also has many unusual sculptures
including lord Ganesha in female attire called as Vainayaki or Ganeshi.
The archaic Shiva Temples at Parali: The Village Parali is located around
15 Kms. South-west of Satara City near Urmodi Dam. There are two temples, one in
fairly good condition and other one seems to be incomplete.
The temples depicts some erotic sculptures and many Hero Stones (Veergal). The beautifully
carved Nandi and idol of Lord Ganesh are worth watching.
The Natraj Temple or the Uttar Chidambaram Temple was constructed in 1984.
The temple is a replica of the famous Natraj Temple in Chidambaram, in Tamilnadu,
but in a smaller size. The temple is located near the national highway, just about
5 Kms from the city centre.
